Selim A. Bassoul is the former Chief Executive Officer of The Middleby Corporation. Bassoul was responsible for growing the company from under $100 million and losing money to the $3 billion industry leader it is today.
Today, Selim focuses his efforts on his foundation, The Bassoul Dignity Foundation. The Foundation has delivered its innovative Relief Oven to hurricane victims in Puerto Rico through the Red Cross, needy families in Haiti and refugee camps around the world. The Foundation also provides education and counseling, micro loans and equipment needed such as sewing machines to help other make a living. At Middleby, Bassoul led the company as Chief Executive for 18 years, growing company sales from $101 million in 200 to nearly $3 billion finishing 2018. Bassoul led more than 70 acquisitions and an expansion into three business platforms which today encompass more than 75 brands operating under The Middleby Corporation Banner. He retired from Middleby in February, 2019 to focus on his family and his Foundation.
Because of his innovative and effective management and marketing style, Bassoul has earned the reputation as an “unconventional executive” and has been featured on The PBS Nightly Business Report, CNBS and Bloomberg News. In March 2013, Tom Gardner, CEO and founder of the internet investing website The Motley Fool, called Bassoul his “Favorite CEO of All-Time”. The Middleby Corporation was named to the Forbes Best Small Company list every year from 2004-13, and was a Fortune Fastest Growing Company, 2014.
