Melissa Wade is the Sr. Manager of Talent Management at Torchy’s Tacos, a fast-casual restaurant concept headquartered in Austin, TX. At Torchy’s Tacos, Melissa has had the pleasure of growing the Talent Management team while making a huge impact in the organization by streamlining the entire recruitment process for the company. With Melissa’s leadership and attention to every detail, Melissa reduced management turnover by 50% within a very short timeframe. At the same time, Melissa guided a cross-functional team to revamp recruiting collateral and established new processes across the company.
Prior to Torchy’s Tacos, Melissa was a Recruiter at Aspen Heights headquarters in Austin, TX. She started with the company in San Marcos and was promoted three times in three years. Melissa also held both marketing and operational roles at Aspen Heights which allowed her to develop her skills in all aspects of the business. She was also very active in Aspen Heights philanthropic initiatives. Melissa organized volunteer events with the Boys and Girls Club and served in Kenya for the Aspen Heights in Africa program. She also created and served as the leader in the first Aspen Heights Culture Committee.
Melissa is a graduate of Texas State University with a degree in Communication Studies and a Minor in Mass Communications. While at Texas State, Melissa was an orientation leader giving campus tours, Student Director of Bobcat Preview, a new student transition program, and a member of Student Foundation, the student body leadership organization.
Melissa was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and moved to Wiesbaden, Germany for four years before moving back to the United States. She grew-up in a military family which she believes helped her establish a passion for people and getting involved in the community.
